Le Mat

I’m working on a homework project for my beloved tarot guru Enrique (S((ee)) here. No, s((ee)) here. Wait, s((ee)) here). I’m making a collection of real-world trumps.

So, you guys get the benefit too, because I’m going to post my stuff here. I’m using the gorgeous Tarot de Marseille Edition Millennium handcrafted by auteur and tarologicien Wilfried Houdouin. (You can get your very own deck of trumps directly from Marseilles, signed by Houdouin! Just click here.)

So today we meet Le Mat, or, in this case, shall I say La Folle? This card in some TdM decks is called Le Fou, but in Houdouin’s deck it is Le Mat because his deck is based on a reproduction of Pierre Madeniè’s TdM from 1709 (to read more about Houdouin’s variations, click here.)

Anyhoo. Proof that there are still card-carrying fools in this world.

And that, my friends, is a very good thing.
